Executive search is as much an art as a science. The ability to pick the right person does not only depend on quantitative analysis. There are also other factors at play.

The executive search function can be broken down into 4 basic steps, namely:
1. Define Search Parameters
At the start of the search process, we will work closely with you to understand what your requirements and priorities are. This involves discussions with hiring managers and key executives. The ability to hire well is predicated on understanding the real performance objectives that need to be specific, measurable, action-orientated, results-based and time-bound. From that, we will develop an outline detailing the role, the key challenges and the goals needed to make this a success.
2. Identifying Shortlist
We next develop a search strategy to include your preferences for target companies and individuals. An action plan and prospective timetable will then be agreed with you that will include your preferred approach to interviewing prospective candidates. We generate a list of target companies and individuals therein to establish the size of the candidate pool, as well as identify individuals that may be known to you. Based on discussions with you, known individuals will either be removed from the equation or approached as potential candidates. Individuals are contacted for a pre-selection interview to create interest and establish intent. This initial screening will identify backgrounds, skills, and level of interest in new opportunities. Selected individuals will then be approached for more detailed, thorough screening.
3. Interview and Presentation of Opportunity
This stage involves a comprehensive interview to screen for performance-based competencies and address motivational issues, salary expectations, etc. We will first screen and evaluate potential candidates before presenting the opportunity to potential candidates deemed suitable to be considered for the role. At this point, we will also address the candidate’s perception of your company in the market and any other relevant issues.
After having completed a thorough search of the market, mapping out all target companies included in the search and exhausting the long list, we will present you with a short list of interested and qualified candidates that we recommend for the interview.
4. Manage Hiring Process
We will coordinate all necessary interviews between you and candidates, provide feedback to both parties and assist in the recruitment of the final candidate of your choice. When a decision has been taken by you to move to offer stage, we will act as a facilitator; helping to negotiate the acceptance of the offer and providing references upon request. We will assist the candidate in the resignation process, including consulting the candidate on how to handle any counter-offers, keeping you updated at every stage.
